ShopRite Mobile App
Challenge
ShopRite’s mobile app was actually two apps that had been merged together (one for delivery, the other for in-store shopping lists), each with its own navigation and shopping list functionality.
Role
UX Director
Solution
.
- Mapped out customer journeys and their needs at each stage based on whether they shop in-store, order delivery, or arrange for in-store pickup
- Consolidated two large hamburger menus into a single, persistent nav bar
- Unified the shopping list, allowing users to decide at any time how they would use it (i.e. for ordering or as a checklist)
- Used geo-fencing to identify if users were in-store, and adapted the experience accordingly
Identified key experience principles and mapped out customer journeys
Leveraged user research to drive a simple-yet-powerful shopping experience.
Created a dynamic, geo-located experience that recognizes when you are in-store vs. away
Merged two separate, legacy apps into one by streamlining their huge menus into a single, simple navigation bar
Designed a single cart that can generate a delivery order, in-store pickup order, or in-store shopping list
